MORNING & EVENING by Charles Spurgeon

June 16, 2014

Morning:

“And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish.”  (John 10:28)  The Christian should never think or speak lightly of unbelief.  The child of God must not sin and displease Him by mistrusting His love, truth, faithfulness, grace, promises.  Let the eternal life within thee express itself in confident rejoicing!

Evening:

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”  (Psalm 27:1)  My light and salvation; this is personal interest, assurance and so declare it boldly.  Our Lord, our light destroys fears and all our strengths come from God.  “If God be for us” who can be against us, either now or in time to come?

Morning:

“Help, Lord.”  (Psalm 12:1)

The prayer is remarkable because it is short, seasonable, sententious, suggestive, direct, clear, and distinct.  It can be used frequently on occasions of doctrinal difficulties, inward conflicts, heavenly labor, doubts and alarms.  The answer is certain if sincerely offered through Jesus.  His sure promise stands, “Fear not, I will help thee.”
