SUCCEEDING IN CHRIST BY A WILLINGNESS TO CHANGE – PT. 2

Fear of change is an interesting challenge for all of us.  It would be good to remember that we all have a blind side….we all do dumb things from time to time.  If we let our fear of change stop us, God’s work will not get done.

We live in financial times of difficulty for a lot of Christians.  Fear can stop us from giving to God as we should (see II Corinthians 9:6-7).  When fear stops us from living by faith and giving to God we also lose the blessing that He has in store for us.  Not keeping debt at a safe level is not God’s fault, it is ours.  When we place ourselves in jeopardy by living beyond our means, fear will eventually step in and hinder our Christian testimony and our obedience to God.

Another area that we need to be concerned about is rebellion.  We have many vivid examples of rebellion against God in the Old Testament.  It seems that Israel has lived her life in rebellion to God for many thousands of years and by doing so has invited God’s judgment.  Rebellion to God’s Word generates fear.  When we, as Christians, knowingly disobey God’s Word, we know that we are inviting His judgment which then generates fear, anger, and discontentment.  When we live in disobedience we fear what God can, might, and will do to bring us back to a state of obedience.  It isn’t worth it! Being willing to change in accordance with God’s Word brings peace to our lives, isn’t that what we desire????
