Read these verses in their entirety, meditate, praise His Word!
Verses 169 – 176
“Let my cry come near before thee, O Lord; give me understanding according to thy word…My lips shall utter praise…My tongue shall speak of thy word…Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts…Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me…I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.”
This is the psalmist’s final plea for hearing and help, prayers for insight (understanding, supplication, deliverance and praise). In the final verse he confesses his sin, going astray like a lost sheep and asks God to seek and rescue him by His Word; he is completely dependent on God.
“He has, letter by letter, alternately sung and sobbed his way through the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Again and again he found that his tears turned into rainbows when he looked through them at the Word of God; his triumphs turned into hymns. Now he is about to conclude his rhapsody on the wonders of the Word, a Word that has met him in every need of his life.”
Amen and Amen!
