Read these verses in their entirety, meditate, praise His Word!
Verses 161 – 168
“Princes have persecuted me without a cause, but my heart standeth in awe of thy word. I rejoice at thy word…I hate and abhor lying…Seven times a day do I praise thee…Great peace have they which love thy law…Lord, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments…I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies; for all my ways are before me.”
The psalmist has peace in spite of persecution, turns away from his enemies now and rejoices in God’s Word which gives him victory in his heart. He rejoices in the worth of the Law, loves it and praises God repeatedly for it. He observes the Law out of love for it and trembles in awe of it.
We must always stand more in awe of God’s Word than of those who would persecute us or who have in their power to do us harm…they are only another human being…and God is God. Amen! (Exploring the Psalms, p. 257)
