Read these verses in their entirety, meditate, praise His Word!
“I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love. Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word. Depart from me, ye evil doers…Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live…let me not be ashamed of my hope. Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually. Thou hast trodden down all them that err from thy statutes…puttest away all the wicked of the earth like dross. My flesh trembleth for fear of thee.”
The psalmist prays for strength to remain loyal to His Word, which he loves and hopes in as his refuge and shield, in the face of much opposition. He addresses and hates the evildoers, pleading with God to uphold, sustain, keep him safe and deliver him because of His judgment against the wicked. He trembles in reverent and humble awe of God’s judgments.
Are we trusting and trembling in such awe?
